There was a presentation dealing with “affordable housing and the marina docks.
A councilwoman spoke about the “homeless” in town.
A gentlemen got up and spoke about the geese problem.
A lady said she got a ticket on her car and the car was towed.
————————————————————————————-
I suggested we kill the geese and the mayor and council got upset. They want to continue doing what they know what doesn’t work.
I also said that the so-called homeless are not the town’s problem. That they are vagrants and should be forced out of town. One of the female councilwomen said she felt uncomfortable. I guess that meant she wanted me to stop talking. Seems to me that the female women on the council have a hard time with. the concept of the people speaking. Maybe the female women on the council should think over whether the want to continue to be a part of governance.
Interesting observation on the council women. One thing I have noticed is that there is certainly a competition to list as many things as possible for belmar events. Even if said council member has nothing to do with them. There is no possible way she was involved in that many things the last two weeks. If she was, (Deleted by Editor.)
You can see the ***** stare when another council woman mentions some talking points / events. We can’t let that person have the last word so then the list continues yet again. It’s so obvious that there is some sort of power struggle to say “I do more”. Not necessarily a bad thing, but in this context its **** ******* and not productive. It happens in every meeting. The ***** stare is the most comical part.
I think it is ridiculous that you are making an issue where there is none. Very misogynistic really. The women on the council are actually quite supportive of each other. If you knew them, you would know that. As far as being involved in “that many things in the last two weeks,” if you attend any of these events you will see the Councilwoman there. She literally has the passion for the town and its residents and supports all the events. Personally, I don’t know how she has the energy, I know I couldn’t! But she does. That is why she wanted to be on the council in the first place. This is not pandering or for looks, but a true joy. When they speak about the various events, it is because they are proud and want to give kudos, and to let the residents know what great programs are going on in our town. Instead of trying to stir up something negative, why not attend some of our great town events?
Interesting observation of the women on the council. Wow. Unconscious bias against women much? Do you focus that keen observational skill on the ‘men’ of the council? No.
Women, especially in politics, are held to a different standard than men. On so many levels. The men that have served on the council over the years have exhibited what you describe. For some of them it was their main characteristic. Yet you focus on the women. As if they have beef with each other only because they’re women.
I know you’ll deny this, or argue that I’m too sensitive or woke or whatever buzzword is making its stupid rounds through the media. But pointing out the behavior of only the women on the council is misogynistic.
Defense? No, it’s not a defense. It’s an observation. You have a kind of sad obsession with the women on the council. You want there to be a power struggle between the ‘ladies’ so badly that you create one. Trying to explain to someone like you how confirmation bias works would be a waste of time. My armchair diagnosis? You don’t like women. Perhaps wronged by one, either in reality or in your imagination, years ago and it has helped form what is an uneven balance. You are not alone. Women are subjected to a different standard by not only men like you, but also certain women. It is literally impossible for you to see the council members as people. As council members. As representatives of the community. They are men and women and nothing more. They are judged and categorized and placed into your nice neat little boxes. Woman are labeled catty, men are labeled strong or weak. That’s it, no room for the brain to process any further. It’s extremely common, for what it’s worth.
No status update on the first aid / fire building? You are telling me nothing has changed in the last few months? The people of Belmar are being kept in the dark.
The administration needs to go after the appraisal company. Make them come back and do it correctly. It’s hard to believe it was an oversight with the property on the DEP website as being in need of remediation. The purchase of that property by the taxpayers at that price was outrageous. Get your head out the sand and do something!!
Mr D- I’m gonna go out on a limb and suggest the ‘female women’ on the council aren’t uncomfortable with the concept of people speaking, but more uncomfortable with the things being said. Personally, I’m a male man and I am almost always uncomfortable with the things you say. Not because I’m offended mind you. More because I’m discomforted to think that there is a person who thinks this way. Nevermind that killing the geese, while not the worst idea, wouldn’t solve the problem. I kill ants all the time, they’re still in my kitchen. The geese problem needs to be solved with a less shortsighted idea.
As far as banishing the homeless, aside from it being inhumane and against Christian ideals (that may get blocked out but it is 100% true), it also is a bad idea. Apparently you’ve never seen First Blood, the first installment of the Rambo franchise. John Rambo was a vagrant (a decorated Vietnam vet, as many homeless people tend to be veterans) and when they try to run him out of town, well all hell breaks loose. These are people often with untreated mental illness. They are indeed OUR problem and they are society’s problem. Turning our back on them is definitely the easy way out. Part of the new way of thinking is always taking the easy way out. Unfortunately we sometimes have to be compassionate adults and try to help our fellow man. I know you’re not a big fan of that, but what’s right is almost always what’s hard.
So my guess is that the ‘female woman’ was probably uncomfortable with the thought of someone being so indifferent to the suffering their fellow man. Just a guess though.
Sir, I did say the geese will come back, but they will be driven away for at least the time the dog is employed, unlike when we employ a dog who just runs after them and does not kill them – We know that doesn’t work. They just never leave.

Words are words and I’m not vulgar so the Council members shouldn’t be hurt by just words. (Deleted by Editor.)

First off, it makes no difference if the person was in the military or not. Just because a person served in the military doesn’t mean he’s exempt from carrying out the duties of a good citizen. (Deleted by Editor.) It is not the duty of the taxpayers of a small town to (Deleted by Editor.)

So why kill them if that won’t work? Doesn’t matter.
Words are indeed just words. But words also have a great deal of power. They can start wars, heal divisions, and change lives. You often become quite upset at other people’s words. Claiming they aren’t living up to your standards because of the things they say. Why is that? They’re just words. Hopefully this helps you understand.
People with untreated mental illness don’t really have a chance to ‘carry out the duties of a good citizen’. But the rest of us do have that duty. And carrying out the duties of a good citizen require us to care for our fellow man. Certainly to care for our fellow man who sacrificed on the battlefield for the freedoms we enjoy.
When the mayor what?? Dying to know.
But according to this blog, there is discomfort by some of you every time the mayor does or says anything. So the answer to your question is, yes.
It’s scary to me that I agree with Mr Dillberger but the geese are invasive and absolutely a health hazard. Chasing them from place to place doesn’t work. Do away with them and then start the process of keeping them away.

Is that your defense? Sorry there is a clear power struggle between the ladies of the council.
I’m non binary, thanks.
I actually do like the ladies more then the men. The mayor and levis are just deer in headlights.
The mayor even admits that there is nothing left to cover with a chuckle. He must be a misogynist.

In reality, Rambo would be a domestic terrorist. Hollywood is not real life.
True.
I was using pop culture to illustrate a point for Mr D. Sometimes the only way to get through.

If we had a process to ‘keep them away’ we wouldn’t need to kill them. We can kill them, but that won’t keep them away.
See the dilemma?
Thanksgiving is coming. Fatten them up. Feed the homeless. Win win.
It would be a show of good faith with the taxpayers if the mayor & council would donate their stipends to the care of Belmar’s vagrant population.
there is no need to kill or chase the geese … just eliminate the food source that attracts them … turf grass … like Kentucky Blue or Tall Fescue.
no food = no geese
