Thanks to everyone who attended the meeting. It was standing room only. Majority of attendees were Belmar residents including former Mayor Ken Pringle. Thank you for voicing your concerns.
I am hoping the commissioners vote no on affordable housing at BHA.
A FAQ sheet printed up on Belmar official letterhead was distributed. Who put together this FAQ? Mayor and Boro Council? Boro Council attorneys specializing in affordable housing? Information that was missing is that once affordable housing units are open at BHA, they are under state control. There is no changing back to BHA control. The state planner stated The Fair Housing Council is very tough, once a decision is made there is no changing it.
If BHA opened up affordable housing to 24 units, BHA would be eligible for cash credit from the Belmar Trust Fund. At the Boro Council meeting on June 25th, the Belmar attorney Joe Baumann, stated there is very little money in the Belmar Trust Fund. At BHA meeting, Councilwoman Rodinaro stated the same thing, BUT in 2 years there would be $2M in the Trust Fund. BHA could use the cash credit for major repairs. What percent of the Belmar Trust Fund is allotted to Belmar residents and BHA? A lot of that money going into the trust fund is from Belmar residents who are being charged $1000 for building additions to their houses or rebuilding their houses.
This redevelopment plan has become a political power grab where human beings are used as pawns. The redevelopment is a done deal but not BHA. Keep BHA as it is. Keep BHA for Belmar Seniors.
Mayor Pringle did a great job of bringing the truth out to the residents who are being mislead by the current Mayor/Admin. The current Mayor/Admin is not transparent he is misleading. And sits there and says nothing—— Thank goodness to everyone who came out to support the BHA.
The FAQ sheet that was distributed to everyone is misleading. Small town propaganda! Again thanks to Mayor Pringle and all the Belmar residents who showed up to voice their disapproval on the Mayor’s “fast tracked” proposal.

Thank you for your work on this.
Correcting my statement regarding what Maria said “could be” in the Belmar Trust Fund . Maria said in 2 years “could be” over $1M in the fund.
